So...

I'm at my local library right now, have around an hour free so I thought I'd write a little. Well GDC is practically upon us and I'm very excited, personally, for industry news. I say "industry" as opposed to a particular platform of choice; being a gamer and not having any sincere bias, I'm intrigued as to the murmurs of anticipation in the Microsoft camp and somewhat surprised by the silence of Sony in regards to what they have planned. But it's safe to all eyes are on the Xbox 360 for the next few days - Sony has somewhat seen a rebirth of their PlayStation 3 project in the media over the past few weeks with the positive hardware sales.

I remember it was around May 2006 where I felt bored of the games I owned and the platform (360). I looked at the release schedule and say only one, perhaps two, titles that I was waiting for but I had an opportunity where I could get a PlayStation 3. I looked at its release titles and invested into it by selling my Xbox 360, dozen games and accessories. I actually remember that day because it almost died on me as I was packing it in my bag - my heart literally froze! I anxiously called Xbox support. It felt a little surreal as I never imagined that I'd be following in the foot steps of all those on internet forums and blogs who've had their consoles die on them, "Whoa..can't believe it's actually happened". Trust me, despite the hardware issues, you never think it'll happen to you! Then ofcourse it probably will..

2007 wasn't a great gaming year for a PlayStation 3 owner as you might imagine, although Ratchet and Uncharted saved grace. I bought into Assassins Creed. Loved it. Now I'm desperate to sell it and I haven't really finished it - yet the frustrating thing is there is nothing I'd trade it in for. So I have real reason to anticipate some titles by Sony this year - but also quite excited for what Microsoft have in offer. If I had an Xbox 360, I'd probably be playing it only right about now as I've completed all my games. But I don't. To be honest, I need some time away from gaming, I'd love to have HOME and customise my own apartment and socialise with other gamers. Sometimes I just want to turn my console on, not to really play games, but to just see whose online and what they're doing but knowing they won't be able to read the message in-game, I dont really bother messaging people so the machine goes off. It's at that point you really start to appreciate what Live offered, although it's hard to justify paying for it especially if you don't have alot of money to spend between games.

HOME cannot arrive soon enough.

But 2007 was great for one thing; the sheer amount of games I purchased. Having had around £300, from selling off my 360, I had more than enough to buy what I wanted. That money is now gone, so I'm littled worried how I'm going to get some money to pay for all the great games I'm waiting for. You say "why doesn't the idiot work"? Well it's complicated. Let's just say I don't have the time. Yeah - like I said, it's complicated lol.

you aren't the only one who's waiting for some news. the MS keynote has me hyped. while i dont have a 360 i still wanna know what goods they've got planned because i wanna tell my best friend his 360 is dying for some good news. and Sony's secretive approach has my buzzing as well. and i really want to see some Resistance 2. all in all the anticipation is mounting and it will be a very good show and from what early reports are saying, very good for MS

a new way to read your messages

I really, really, really hope Sony does announce In-Game XMB. And mostly I want to see more gameplay and here more news about certain games that Sony has kept quiet on. Such as: War Devil, Killzone2, Reistance, 8 days, InFamous, GOW3 and others. Also, I too am Dying for a specific release date for HOME.

If Sony doesn't announce some sort of a release date for HOME, then they will be Overshadowed by the competition.

I can't wait for GDC! 8:00 seems so far away!
